Restricted Common Candidate
A
Restricted Common Candidate is a
candidate that is common to two objects, like
units or
almost locked sets, but is restricted to only being in one of the two objects.
The two almost locked sets in the example in Figure 1 contain a restricted common candidate of 7.
If the candidate 7 is placed in the any of the cells in the blue set where it is a candidate it will exclude the 7 from all of the cells in the green set where it is a candidate because they are all in the same column.
If the candidate 7 is placed in the any of the cells in the green set where it is a candidate it will exclude the 7 from all of the cells in the blue set where it is a candidate because they are all in the same column.
